E-learning
Based on Unhack Democracy’s research and over a thousand testimonies from poll workers gathered across four elections in Hungary, we have developed an interactive e-learning platform with practical examples to train polling station commission members for the 2022 parliamentary and 2024 European Parliamentary and local elections.
Votes Without Borders
Led by Romanian investigative journalism outlet Átlátszó Erdély (Transylvania), Votes without Borders investigated the voting registration process of Hungarians living in neighbouring countries and monitored the election campaign in these communities. Unhack Democracy provided ongoing supervision to journalists working on the project. The team analysed the government's funding of the campaign aimed at diaspora voters, the voter registration process, the campaign across social media and traditional media outlets, the election itself, and, most importantly, irregularities. The project also provided information to voters about their rights and responsibilities and secured an online platform where voters could safely report irregularities.
All we know and assume about the dumped mail ballots
A mysterious, cautious source carefully deleting his digital tracks informed the press about mail ballots having been thrown out near Târgu Mureș. The deeper we dug, the fishier the story became.
CEU Open University Course
Developed and taught by co-founders of Unhack and Professor Gabor Toka, this pioneering course: “Safeguarding Electoral Integrity in Hungary” at CEU’s István Bibó Open University explored the following questions: How can election observation and vote counting correct the failures of the electoral system? The second part was based on Unhack Democracy’s research and capacity building projects whose primary goal was to improve electoral integrity across the region.
